1961 "Hänsel und Gretel" Necklace

This colorful vintage necklace is made of a 1961 German stamp depicting the Grimm fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. This stamp was one in the "series for social welfare" which donated 5 pfennigs per stamp for helping needy children. (This is why there is a +5 next to the 10 in the upper left hand corner). Other fairly tale stamps in this series included Cinderella, Snow White, and The Little Red Riding Hood. The back of this necklace is covered in German newsprint. 1.25" wide.
