This feminine necklace is made of blue floral paper and has "blue ribbons" Japanese Chiyogami paper on the back. This is a traditional type of paper from Japan, meaning "thousand generation paper." This type of paper was first developed in the Edo period (1603-1868). It was originally used for paper dolls, or pasted on tea tins. This paper is made from the inner bark of the Kozo plant, and is hand silk-screened.
